Meghan Markle labelled hypocrite by sister – ‘Did you ever ask dad if he was okay?’

Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha Markle has hit out at the Duchess of Sussex for her comments in the ITV documentary Harry and Meghan

Meghan Markle ‘s half-sister has labelled the Duchess a hypocrite for complaining that people don’t ask her if she’s okay – claiming that she didn’t ask how their dad was after his heart attack.

During her behind-the-scene Africa documentary, Meghan fought back tears as she said: “Not many people have asked if I’m okay.”

She spoke openly about finding life in the royal spotlight as a new mum challenging , claiming she’s been treated unfairly by the press.

But Samantha, who changed her surname to Markle after her sister was linked to the Royal Family, hit out at her words after watching Harry and Meghan: An African Adventure.

Speaking on American TV show Inside Edition, she said: “For her to have the audacity to say something like it’s nice to know that somebody wants to know if I’m okay.

“I thought: “Wow, did you ever ask dad if he was okay during two heart attacks?’

“I think it is really ludicrous that someone who is escorted around the world by millions of dollars worth of security on private jets as a millionaire could ever complain about anything.”

She also claimed that Meghan “knew exactly what she was doing” when she started her relationship with Prince Harry .

When asked what she thought of people saying she was being too “mean” about her sister, Samantha replied: “Telling the truth is not being mean.”

Meghan’s open and honest interview has had a mixed reaction from fans around the world.

Many have praised her for speaking so boldly about a subject rarely tackled by members of the Royal Family.

In a one-to-one interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby, Meghan is asked about the “true pressures of life in the spotlight and the toll it has taken on them both”.

She replies: “Look, any woman especially when they are pregnant you’re really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a newborn – you know.

“And especially as a woman, it’s a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed it’s, well…”

She then cuts to thank Tom for checking how she is doing.

Meghan Markle and Harry’s documentary was ‘utter disaster’ and will ’cause chaos’ for Royals

“And, also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I’m OK. But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

Following up on her answer, Tom asks: “And the answer is, would it be fair to say, not really OK, as in it’s really been a struggle?”

Meghan pauses before replying simply: “Yes”.

While Samantha says that Meghan knew what was in store when she joined the Royal Family, one of the Duchess’s friends disagrees .

Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne was Meghan’s friend and agent for years, and the two women met for lunch in London just hours before her first date with Prince Harry .

They met up regularly during the early days of their relationship, and Gina recalls the moment she realised things were getting serious between them.

As a Brit, she was well aware of the pressures that would come with being publicly linked to Harry and what could happen if she ended up marrying into the Royal Family – and decided to warn her friend.

Speaking to Mail Online , she said: “It was clear that she didn’t know what she was letting herself in for. She was naive. I still think that now.

“I said, ‘This is serious. This is the end of your normal life, the end of your privacy ”

However Gina claims that Meghan wasn’t interested in her advice, saying she “didn’t want to hear any negativity” at what was a “happy time” for her and Harry.

Gina has not spoken or heard anything from her pal since a week before Meghan and Harry’s engagement announcement.

Their last contact was via a lawyer who ended their professional connections.
