Winehouse passed away from alcohol poisoning on July 23, 2011.

Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, 41
On July 20, 2017, Bennington committed suicide by hanging at his California home

Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, 27
On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead in his Washington home. Forensic analysis later revealed that he had committed suicide on April 5. He was found with a shotgun across his body, a wound on his head and a suicide note nearby.

Jim Morrison of The Doors, 27
Morrison was found dead at his apartment in Paris, France on July 3, 1971. No autopsy was performed as it was not required by the French law.

Hendrix, 27
Hendrix passed away on Sept. 18, 1970. A postmortem analysis revealed that he aspirated his own vomit and died of asphyxia while intoxicated with barbiturates.

Michael Jackson, 50
On June 25, 2009, while Jackson was under the care of his personal physician Conrad Murray, he stopped breathing while attempting to sleep. Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter on Feb. 8, 2010, after it was concluded that the prescription drugs he gave him led to the singer’s death.

Freddie Mercury of The Queen, 45
Suffering from HIV/AIDS, he passed away on Nov. 24, 1991.

Prince, 57
On April 21, 2016, he passed away from fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park recording studio, in Minnesota, U.S.

ohn Lennon of The Beatles, 40
On Dec. 8, 1980, Lennon was shot to death by Mark David Chapman as he was returning to his apartment from a recording with his wife Yoko Ono in New York City. Chapman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to a 20-year life sentence.

Bob Marley, 36
Suffering from a severe case of malignant melanoma, Marley passed away on May 11, 1981

Pete de Freitas of Echo & the Bunnymen, 27
De Freitas died in a motorcycle crash on his way from Liverpool to London, U.K. on June 14, 1989.

John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, 32
Bonham passed away on Sept. 25, 1980, overdosing on alcohol. An investigation revealed that Bonham had consumed over a liter of alcohol, which led to him choking on his vomit. 

Janis Joplin, 27
On Oct. 4, 1970, Joplin passed away from heroin overdose, possibly compounded by alcohol.

Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones, 27
Jones passed away on Feb. 28, 1942, by drowning in his swimming pool at his home in Hartfield, England.

Leslie Harvey of Stone the Crows, 27
While Harvey was performing on a rainy day in a concert at Swansea, Wales, he was electrocuted after touching a microphone which was not properly grounded.

Ron “Pigpen” McKernan of Grateful Dead, 27
Pigpen passed away from gastrointestinal hemorrhage on March 8, 1973, in Corte Madera, California, U.S.

Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd, 29
On Oct. 20, 1977, Van Zant died in a plane crash as the flight ran out of fuel outside Gillsburg, Mississippi, U.S. His fellow band members Steve and Cassie Gaines also passed away in the incident.
